Some of the biggest mistakes I have made when preparing for a trip (domestic & international):

Not checking for when flight annuals sales are prior to purchasing * Side Fact: Iceland air offers great Black Friday deals for international flights to Europe
Not purchasing a decent phone holder for a plane to easily watch movies
Keeping an extra set of headphones in your bag- so when you forget your airpods that you were charging at home you don't have to pay 50 dollars for the worse headphones you will ever purchase

4. A selfie stick (As stupid as they are). It will help you capture a better background in your photos.
5. Splurging for a decent camera - especially for nature specific trips. Wide lens cameras capture the environment so much better.
6. Not planning an extra day into the travel plan for and sort of delays
7. Driving a lot? Bringing an attachable phone holder for the rental car to easily use your GPS

8.Permits - If there is a specific hike you want to do. Some (National) park and other hiking trails require a permit that must be obtained in advance
9.When booking a hotel always call and check the price of parking per night - in some cities it can cost up to almost 50 dollars for self-parking.
10. Not researching a time change when within a certain city. For example, when in Las Vegas we woke up at 4am to make it to Zion a half an hour before park opening. Well apparently, even though it is 2 hours away it was in a separate time zone - we actually arrived half hour after the park opened. This is not something we have to think about where we are from.
